The Race Across America is considered the toughest bike race in the world. The riders have to overcome 4800 kilometers in a maximum of 12 days. The route takes them across the entire country: from the Pacific to the Atlantic – through scorching hot deserts, over 3000 meter high passes, through the endless expanses of the Midwest … Day and night.
The doctor and scientist Michael Nehls has ventured to his physical and mental limits. His goal: to arrive without torturing himself. He was accompanied by his wife, his three children and eight friends – extreme sports as a family outing.
Nehls found the key to a relaxed race in the right strategy, a balance between stress and regeneration, team spirit and individuality, meticulousness and humor.
