Sabine Nehls, a housewife and mother of three grown-up children, sets off for a summit that many consider to be the goal of a simple tourist tour – but which is nevertheless reached by only half of the approximately 30,000 “summit strikers” each year.

Accompanied by her husband and seven other “mountain tourists,” as well as 35 local helpers, she describes her journey through jungle and icy winds until the air is so thin that not all of them reach the goal.What does it take for “ordinary people” to want to climb one of the most beautiful mountains in the world?
